New strategic director for Suffolk Coastal and Waveney

SUFFOLK Coastal and Waveney district councils have appointed Nick Khan as strategic director.

Khan is currently executive director at Rochford District Council in Essex. He is a qualified private and public sector lawyer and, along with the managing director, leads the authority’s senior management team.

He is joining Suffolk Coastal and Waveney to replace Arthur Charvonia, who is becoming chief executive at Babergh and Mid Suffolk councils.

Khan will have a “broad strategic role” with additional specific responsibility for environment services and port health, ICT, planning and Building Control, the Coastal Partnership East and communities.

Stephen Baker, chief executive of Suffolk Coastal and Waveney, said: “We could not be happier to appoint a person of Nick’s calibre to a critical role during a hugely important period in the history of the two councils.”

Khan will take up his new post on 12 July.
