Mansfield District Council names interim chief exec
MANSFIELD District Council has appointed Hayley Barsby as its interim chief executive.
Following approval the full council, she will move to her new post after serving as the council's director for communities for 15 months. Barsby, who is from Mansfield, first joined the authority in 1999 as a clerical assistant.
She has stints at a council depot, Mansfield's Civic Centre on secondment as a trainee management consultant, working on the Best Value initiative and helped to create the council's Business Transformation Team.
She studied for her postgraduate diploma in management within the Open University.
"It's been a good journey and I've taken essential steps to test, learn, grow and move on to the next challenge," Barsby said.
"I've never said 'that's not in my job description' but always seen it as an opportunity to develop a new skill. The organisation saw my potential, invested in me and supported my development. There's never a dull moment here - no two days are ever the same. And I've been very lucky to work with some great and very supportive people."
