Former teacher named as Slough children’s director
SLOUGH Borough Council has appointed Cate Duffy as its new strategic director of children, learning & skills.
Duffy has almost 20 years’ experience as a secondary teacher and senior leader in London and Australia.
She has worked as director of education at Waltham Forest and interim director of education and early help at Brent Council.
In addition, Duffy has held senior school improvement roles at Birmingham and Ealing councils.
She started work at Slough on 3 April.
Commenting on her appointment, council leader Cllr Sohail Munawar said: “She not only brings to Slough a wealth of experience but also a proven track record of success in her previous roles. I look forward to working with her in getting things right for children and young people in Slough.”
Duffy said: “I am excited by the ambition and potential for excellence in Slough.
“It is clear that there are great strengths in our schools and settings and I believe that the council is firmly committed not only to transforming Slough as a place but to ensuring that children and young people are at the heart of at transformation.”
