Braintree chief exec to join Essex County Council

BRAINTREE District Council chief executive Nicola Beach is to leave the authority to take up a new role with Essex County Council.

Beach joined the council for seven years, having joined in June 2010 as corporate director. She has been chief executive of four-and-a-half years.

She will leave at the end of June to become executive director for infrastructure and environment at Essex County Council.

Andy Wright, Braintree's corporate director will become acting chief executive from 1 July until a permanent appointment is made.

Wright joined the council in February 2013 having worked for a number of district councils in senior leisure, community and economic development roles.

Beach said: "In the last five years, we've invested in the priorities that matter to residents, increased their satisfaction in the services we provide and provided value for money in the most difficult financial climate in generations. This organisation is in good shape to meet future challenges and I know this will continue and be built upon under my successor.

"I am pleased to be joining Essex County Council's senior management team at this exciting time. There are many challenges ahead to make the lives of our residents better and to help Essex grow and prosper so everyone benefits."

Gavin Jones, chief executive of Essex County Council, added: "Nicola will play an essential role in delivering our ambitious plans to shape Essex as a place by creating and managing our major infrastructure and environmental challenges.

"Nicola is certainly no stranger to Essex County Council, having worked with us for many years before her move to Braintree District Council in 2010, where she has continued to work closely with us and has built strong partner relations. I'm very pleased to be welcomed her back to ECC."
