Council suspends staff over alleged corruption
NORTH LANARKSHIRE Council has suspended three members of staff over allegations of corruption.
The trio were suspended following an internal audit triggered by an anonymous letter to the council leader in April that claimed "potential abuse of the council's procurement processes".
All three will be suspended on full pay while a disciplinary investigation is carried out.
Paul Jukes, chief executive of North Lanarkshire Council, said: "I received an extensive report from internal audit last Friday, 30 September 30. Having considered the report, I have taken the decision to suspend three members of staff from Corporate Property & Procurement on full pay to allow for a disciplinary investigation to take place.
"The council will have no further comment to make while this disciplinary investigation is carried out."
