Liverpool combined authority appoints Capita to highways contract

LIVERPOOL City-Region Combined Authority has appointed Capita to develop a Carriageway Asset Management Plan.

Capita will work in partnership with asset management firm Xais, to produce the plan for the city-region's Key Route Network (KRN).

The 13-month partnership will include a risk-based approach to prioritisation of works, both for routine maintenance and longer-term plan periodic maintenance.

Capita and Xais will also develop and implement a revised carriageway hierarchy for the KRN to be used for risk-based inspections and prioritisation of works. The contract is designed to drive down costs for the combined authority, while maintaining high service levels and creating conditions for growth.

Capita and Xais will provide tailored asset condition surveys of the KRN; a City-Region Highways Infrastructure Policy & Strategy; A KRN carriageway lifecycle plan; scheme development and prioritisation; and a Skid Resistance Strategy for the KRN.

Mark Tabone of Capita said: "We are excited to be working with Xais to develop a Carriageway Asset Management Plan for LCRCA that will help ensure continued investment into the region and drive economic growth.

"Our robust experience in this area allows us to assist highway authorities in managing their network efficiently and effectively, while delivering best value for their highway users."
